Ingredients

SERVINGS: 12
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup butter
  • pinch salt
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Instructions

Cream butter and sugar, then egg, then vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately to creamed mixture, buttermilk and sifted ingredients. When finished mixing, cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 8 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Portion dough into 12 roughly equal portions,, and turn dough into figure eights, handling as little as possible. Bake 10-15 minutes on greased cookie sheet until they just start to brown. Butter and eat.
